Description
The JVC AV-27D503 is a 27" consumer CRT television released in 2002 as part of JVC's D-Series line. This is the flagship 27" model featuring Dual Tuner Picture-in-Picture (PIP) with EZ Surfing functionality, which allows users to scroll through channels via the PIP window while on-screen text displays program information.
Technical Details
The AV-27D503 uses the GE chassis with a 3-Line Digital Comb Filter for improved composite and RF image quality. Component video inputs support 480i and 480p signals for use with DVD players and progressive scan sources.
Audio features include BBE High Definition Audio processing and Hyper Surround sound. The TheaterPro 6500K color temperature setting provides a warmer picture for film viewing.
The remote control model is RM-C251, an illuminated universal remote with TV, VCR, and DVD control capability.
Tube Identification
The tube brand can be identified by the letter beside the serial number on the back of the set:
- R = RCA/Thomson (A68ADT25X) - "bubble curve" tube
- S = Samsung (A68QDN891X) - generally preferred by enthusiasts
Red Push Fix
Late-era D-Series (Dx03) 2002 models may exhibit oversaturated reds. To correct this in the service menu:
- Navigate to NTSC MAT → Set to 000
