Like the rest of the line it uses Sony's flat picture tube, in which the gun fires along the face of the screen rather than at it from behind, keeping the whole set 34 mm thick. The nominal 2-inch tube gives about 1.75 inches of visible diagonal.<ref name="rm" /> The cabinet measures 77 × 162 × 34 mm.<ref name="rm" />

It runs from four 1.5 V AA cells or from an external 6 V DC supply, receives NTSC on a US VHF/UHF tuner through a built-in telescopic aerial, and — unusually for a set this size — has a video input jack, so it can be used as a tiny monitor rather than only as a broadcast receiver.<ref name="rm" /> A carrying strap was supplied.
