|description=The Sony EDV-7000 was a mid-range ED Beta VCR released in June 1988 at a retail price of ¥220,000. It introduced "BS Control" functionality, which allowed integration with an external Sony BS satellite tuner for automated timer recording of satellite broadcasts.

The EDV-7000's distinctive design feature was the "Shuttle Edit" control — a lever-style push button on the right side of the body that allowed users to mark edit points during recording. While this control could also be used during playback pause, it was limited to ±¼ speed in that mode, making it impractical for playback editing.

Like all ED Beta consumer decks except the EDV-5000, the EDV-7000 included a flying erase head for clean edit transitions. Body color is black (odd thousands). None of the ED Beta consumer decks included a built-in BS satellite tuner, offering only analog terrestrial tuners; the BS Control feature on this model was Sony's solution for satellite integration via an external tuner.

The EDV-7000 was the basis for the North American EDV-7500 (USA) and EDV-7300 (Canada).
